To recognize and honor Black sportswriters and editors for their excellence in journalism

Posted by admin | Feb 14, 2025 | Mission Statement | 0

Mission Statement : To recognize and honor Black sportswriters and editors for their excellence in journalism.

The Original Six is a collection of deceased Black sportswriters and editors who blazed the trail for all others in the business and were extraordinary in sports journalism.

In the first induction class, there were three inductees in 2025.

For 2026 inductees and beyond, The Hall’s goal is to enshrine at least two members – living or deceased – every year. The Hall wants the students to benefit from an interaction with the honorees on campus.

The Hall will be housed at Crosby Hall in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
